Military Training - What Conditions Allow Admission to Higher Education.
Military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can study at universities while serving. However, there is one important condition that must be met to have the right to study.
Military Training Parallel to Service
A citizen who is serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine under contract approached lawyers. The man inquired whether he, as a combatant, has the right to enroll in a higher educational institution for full-time study.
Lawyer Yuriy Aivazyan, commenting on the situation, stated that such a situation is provided for by the Law of Ukraine 'On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Their Families.'
Important Necessary Condition
However, Aivazyan emphasized, there is one very important nuance that affects this process. 'Training should not interfere with the military personnel's performance of duties in the position held,' the lawyer reminded. Thus, a serviceman who wants to obtain education parallel to military service will have to coordinate this process with his command.
Therefore, military personnel have the right to combine university education with service, but it is important not to allow a conflict with the performance of military duties. In particular, it is necessary to obtain the command's consent for the learning process.
