The Crucial Role of International Support for Ukraine
According to UATV: On May 24, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored the critical importance of global backing for his country, while also affirming Ukraine's readiness to retaliate against Russian attacks. He reported that over the previous day, Russian strikes had hit the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions, as well as the city of Kherson. According to him, Russian military logistics in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, along with the very presence of occupying forces there, have become extremely difficult.
Zelenskyy also highlighted significant Russian troop losses and logistical challenges in the occupied areas.
“Russian military logistics on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, and the very presence of occupiers there, are extremely complicated” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy.The president noted that intelligence had obtained internal Russian documents providing a realistic assessment of the situation.
Russia's Troubles and a Call for Peace
Furthermore, Volodymyr Zelenskyy drew attention to the difficulties facing Russia itself, including fuel shortages and sharp increases in gasoline and diesel prices across more than 60 Russian regions. He also reported that Russian security services are already proposing to postpone or even cancel the 'United Russia' party's election procedures for the State Duma.
The Ukrainian president stressed the necessity of technological advances in defense and issued a call for peace to Russia.
“If Ukraine obtains what we have discussed with our partners within the 'Group of Seven', we will quickly create conditions that will force Russia to choose peace” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy.Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized: “We are fighting for our land. We are fighting for our people. We are fighting for justice for Ukraine.”
