President of Poland demands a ban on OUN-UPA symbols: what the bill entails.
Navrocki calls for banning OUN-UPA symbols in Poland
The President of Poland, Karol Navrocki, urged parliament to adopt a law that would prohibit the use of OUN-UPA symbols within the country. This statement was made after flags of these organizations were spotted during a concert at the National Stadium in Warsaw.
"The law needs to be adopted to avoid similar situations in the future," emphasized Navrocki.
The president stressed that the use of OUN-UPA symbols in Poland is unacceptable for him. He called for the adoption of a law that would make the display of such symbols illegal, to avoid similar incidents in the future.
"Regardless of the reasons for this unacceptable behavior, we must take decisive action," noted the Polish president.
Navrocki hopes that parliament will adopt bills that expand the list of prohibited symbols. It is also possible that this issue will be discussed at a meeting with the President of Ukraine.
"All issues related to the past are important for our future with Ukraine. If the opportunity arises, I see no obstacles to discussing this topic," concluded Navrocki.
Ukrainian-Polish relations are of great importance for both countries, hence the ban on OUN-UPA symbols could be one of the steps towards improving mutual understanding between them.
