Trump's Envoy Witkoff: Two Different Behaviors in Kyiv and Moscow.
According to ТСН: The appearance and demeanor of the U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff noticeably differ during meetings with Ukrainians and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This was noted by Financial Times journalist Christopher Miller in his post on social media.
“Steve Witkoff sits opposite Ukrainians in Miami: unshaven and unkempt. Serious, avoiding eye contact and not smiling,” the journalist noted.
In contrast, during the meeting with Putin on December 2, the U.S. envoy looked entirely different: sitting at the table with a “wide smile, clean-shaven, attentive.”
“He says he had a 'wonderful walk' in Moscow and told Putin that it is a 'magnificent city,'” Miller added.
Recall that Witkoff and Kushner discussed the details of a peace plan to end the war against Ukraine with Putin in Moscow on December 2. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov described the meeting as “useful and constructive.” He reported that Moscow received four more documents in addition to the 27-point plan of U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the resolution of the war. Although compromise is not yet in sight, part of the U.S. proposals has provoked “sharp criticism,” but the meeting allowed for discussions on “ways to further resolve the Ukrainian crisis” and the prospects for a “long-term peaceful settlement.”
The next actions of the envoy may significantly impact the course of peace negotiations. It is currently important what specific proposals will be discussed further, considering the existing differences between the parties. Observers are eagerly awaiting new statements and results from the upcoming meetings.
