The Ukrainian video game Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is considering adaptation by Netflix. This was stated by the head of GSC Game World, Maxim Krippa, in an interview with Forbes.

Krippa noted that the costs for Stalker 2 amount to millions of dollars.

The GSC Game World company funded the development of Stalker 2 after its acquisition by Maxim Krippa in 2020. During this Time, the number of developers has increased from 65 to 470 people.

“We have already sold enough to cover the costs. Our team worked without weekends before the release of the game. They dedicated themselves to this project, especially in wartime conditions. We wanted to give our country hope and pride, to show the whole world that Ukrainian developers can create such projects,” said Maxim Krippa.

The investor is satisfied with the results of the game, despite initial problems and errors. The game is considered successful and has interesting gameplay.

Currently, Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl has been evaluated by more than 72 thousand players in the Steam store, of which more than 56 thousand are positive reviews (86%).

Adaptation and future plans

Krippa believes that Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl can become the “Ukrainian Witcher” and raise Ukrainian culture to an international level. He also reported that negotiations with Netflix regarding the adaptation of the game are underway. The investor also plans to release the game on “other platforms.”

The game Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl unfolds in the Chernobyl zone. After the second catastrophe, new anomalies, mutants, and mysterious phenomena have appeared here. The game features a non-linear plot that allows players to choose their path depending on their decisions. It will take gamers more than 35 hours to complete the main storyline.

Support from politicians

At a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the people's deputies congratulated the team of developers of the game Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. Other Ukrainian politicians, including the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov and the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, also expressed support for the project.
