Slovakia Implements Speed Limits on Sidewalks
According to The Sun: Slovakia aims to make walking on sidewalks more comfortable, thus introducing a new speed limit. From January 1st, anyone moving faster than 6 km/h (3.7 mph) on sidewalks may draw the attention of the police.
This law, passed in the Slovak parliament last year, does not apply to pedestrians but targets those moving on scooters or other similar vehicles.
“We want people to be able to walk peacefully on sidewalks.”
In this way, Slovakia is trying to address the problem of safety on sidewalks while ensuring comfort for pedestrians. The new rules will help reduce the risk of injuries and conflicts between pedestrians and users of fast-moving transport.
