June 15, 2023 Attack on Dnipro

According to UATV: In the early hours of June 15, 2023, Russian forces struck Dnipro, damaging local businesses, two educational institutions, and the city’s organ and chamber music hall. The explosions began just after 1 a.m., causing widespread damage to residential buildings and shattering more than 1,100 windows. One man sustained injuries in the attack.

According to municipal officials, a college sports complex was completely destroyed in the bombardment. The blasts inflicted severe damage on the city’s infrastructure.

“Over 1,100 windows were blown out. We are now dealing with the aftermath. All relevant city services are at work. Fortunately, no one was killed, though one man was injured and has received the necessary care,” said Yuriy Yandulsky.

Cultural Landmarks Hit Hard

The organ and chamber music hall suffered particularly heavy damage. Its pipe organ, installed in 1985, was seriously affected.

“The worst part is that our most valuable and important instrument has been damaged. We will assess the extent of the harm with our experts. Only then will we understand the complexity of restoring the organ and repairing the building itself,” commented Anton Cherneta.

Recovery efforts are currently underway across Dnipro, as emergency crews work to restore the damaged infrastructure. Authorities continue to update the public and provide assistance to those affected.

This attack is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where civilian infrastructure is frequently targeted. The destruction of key cultural sites like the organ and chamber music hall has long-lasting repercussions for the local community and the region’s cultural life. While Dnipro’s leadership is striving to ensure safety and rebuild, the scale of destruction presents significant challenges.
