Russia Launches Combined Strike on Ukraine on March 14, 2023

According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of March 14, 2023, Russia carried out a large-scale combined assault on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, with the Kyiv region bearing the brunt of the attack. The operation involved both drones and missiles, resulting in 498 aerial threats being recorded. This attack is part of an ongoing campaign to destabilize Ukraine and damage its essential facilities.

Composition of the Attacking Forces

The missiles deployed included:

  • 2 Zircon anti-ship missiles launched from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea;
  • 13 Iskander-M and S-400 ballistic missiles fired from the Bryansk region;
  • 25 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black and Caspian Seas;
  • 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from the Vologda region;
  • 4 Kh-59 and Kh-69 guided air-launched missiles;
  • 430 attack drones of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Itelmas.

As of 09:00, Ukraine's air defense systems had intercepted 460 targets, consisting of 58 missiles and 402 drones. However, despite these efforts, 6 missiles and 28 attack drones struck 11 locations, resulting in four fatalities in the Kyiv region. Among the downed targets were:

  • 1 Zircon anti-ship missile;
  • 7 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles;
  • 25 Kalibr cruise missiles;
  • 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile;
  • 402 enemy drones of various types.
