Russia carried out a massive airstrike on Ukraine
On the night of August 16, Russia carried out a massive airstrike on Ukraine, using an 'Iskander-M' missile and 85 strike drones of the Shahed type as well as various types of imitation drones. The enemy attack was of such magnitude, but the air defense forces managed to shoot down and suppress most of the targets, including those arriving from the territory of the Russian Federation and occupied Crimea.
The press service of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported: '
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, the air defense forces shot down or suppressed 61 enemy Shahed-type drones and imitation drones in the north and east of the country,'.
Massive attack and work of air defense
The attack began on the evening of August 15 and lasted until the night of the next day. The Russian forces attacked from different directions, directing drones at the front-line areas of various regions of Ukraine. A total of rocket strikes and 24 UAVs were recorded at 12 different locations. The defense was ensured by mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units, and unmanned systems.
It is also worth mentioning the innovative drone with an artificial intelligence system developed within the Brave1 defense technology cluster in cooperation with the Third Separate Assault Brigade.
The massive airstrike carried out by enemy forces on Ukraine was repelled by the air defense forces. The Russian forces attempted to attack from various directions, using drones and missiles, but the Ukrainian military destroyed most of the targets.Read also
