Mandatory Vehicle Inspections Now Required for All Cars Entering Moldova.
New Border Requirements for Moldova
According to Novyny.live: Travelers crossing into Moldova from Ukraine's Odesa region now face a new mandatory rule: all vehicles must present a valid technical inspection certificate. This regulation is now in effect at all border checkpoints between the two countries. The inspection must be conducted at a certified service station. This change aligns Moldova's entry requirements with broader European road safety standards.
This vehicle inspection requirement applies to all cars, regardless of their year of manufacture. In addition to the inspection certificate, drivers must carry several other essential documents when crossing. These include:
- A biometric or foreign passport,
- A valid driver's license,
- The vehicle's registration papers,
- A 'Green Card' international insurance policy and a road tax vignette.
Additional Rules for Travelers with Children
Families traveling with minors must meet extra documentation requirements. They need to carry the child's passport or birth certificate. If only one parent is traveling with the child, a notarized letter of consent from the absent parent is mandatory.
Travelers should also be aware of items strictly prohibited from being brought into Moldova. The banned list includes:
- Weapons,
- Narcotics,
- Prescription medicines without a doctor's note,
- Meat, dairy products, honey, and plant seedlings without proper phytosanitary certificates.
Violations of these import rules can result in the confiscation of goods and the imposition of fines.
These new measures aim to enhance border security and ensure legal compliance for all travelers entering Moldova. It is crucial for anyone planning a trip to familiarize themselves with these rules beforehand.
The introduction of mandatory vehicle inspections and stricter document checks at the Moldovan border reflects heightened controls by border authorities. This policy is also expected to increase demand for certified inspection stations, potentially improving the overall roadworthiness of vehicles. Travelers are advised to pay close attention to the new regulations to avoid complications during their journey.
