New F-1-D Visa Opens Doors for Foreign Remote Workers in South Korea
According to Tourism.d.ua — Туризм: Starting June 30, 2025, foreign nationals can apply for the new F-1-D visa, allowing them to live in South Korea for an extended period while working remotely for overseas employers. This initiative targets young professionals, offering a simplified path to long-term residency. Key updates include relaxed income requirements and an increased maximum stay of up to three years.
The F-1-D visa follows a pilot program that ran from January 2024 to May 2025. A major eligibility criterion is an annual income of nearly $37,000 USD for applicants aged 18 to 34 who plan to reside outside Seoul. This threshold aligns with the average income in South Korea.

South Korean authorities aim to create an integration model that attracts highly skilled professionals. Minister Jeong Seon-ho stated:
