The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan condemned the detention of Milli Majlis deputy Azer Badamov at Moscow airport. The delegation, which included Badamov, was traveling to Astrakhan at the invitation of the deputy governor to celebrate the anniversary of Heydar Aliyev's birth. Russia detained the deputy without warning, citing a ban on entry into the country. Azerbaijan demands explanations regarding this decision. It is reminded that the Embraer plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed at Aktau airport. There were 67 passengers and five crew members from various countries aboard, including Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. According to the head of Rosaviation, the cause of the crash was dense fog and lack of visibility at an altitude of 500 meters. The President of Azerbaijan suggested that the plane crashed as a result of shelling near Grozny, but he received an apology from Vladimir Putin for the incident occurring on Russian territory.
