Rewards for Volunteers Who Shoot Down Drones

According to Novyny.live: The Odesa city administration has approved a payment of 30,000 hryvnia to volunteers for every drone they destroy. This initiative is part of a broader municipal program aimed at bolstering the city’s territorial defense, which remains in effect through 2028. Its primary goal is to strengthen local air defense capabilities amid ongoing threats.

Eligibility and Payout Structure

These payments are designated for members of mobile fire teams who are not part of the regular military forces. Funding comes directly from the city budget and does not require approval from the executive committee. Notably, members of the territorial defense forces themselves are not eligible for this program. All participants in a mobile fire team who take part in intercepting a drone share the reward equally.

To claim the payment, the team leader must submit a written report detailing the engagement. The program is subject to oversight, with financial reporting conducted in accordance with legal requirements. This ensures transparency in the use of public funds and reinforces the program’s effectiveness in protecting Odesa from modern aerial threats.

'This decision highlights the critical role volunteers play in safeguarding the city as threats from unmanned aerial vehicles continue to escalate.'

The financial incentive is expected to encourage more active participation in Odesa’s defense and reflects the local government’s commitment to enhancing regional security. In wartime, such initiatives are vital for building effective countermeasures against external dangers.
