Odesa Oblast Leads in Number of Destroyed Historical Sites.
In terms of destroyed and damaged cultural heritage sites, Odesa Oblast ranks third. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, 179 sites have been affected in the region. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
Damaged Sites
According to reports, as a result of attacks by the Russian Federation, 1528 cultural heritage sites have been destroyed and damaged in Ukraine. Of these, 147 have national significance, 1267 are local, and 114 are newly discovered. Additionally, during shelling and combat operations, 2359 cultural infrastructure objects have been damaged, of which 471 were completely destroyed.
Which Regions Were Most Affected
Damage to cultural heritage sites has been recorded in 18 regions of Ukraine. The most destruction was found in Kharkiv Oblast - 336 sites, followed by Kherson Oblast with 289 damaged sites, and in third place is Odesa Oblast with 179. Next are Donetsk (173) and Kyiv Oblast and the city of Kyiv (111).
According to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, in terms of damage to cultural heritage sites, Odesa Oblast ranks third among all regions of Ukraine. The most destruction occurred in Kharkiv Oblast, while Kherson Oblast takes second place in this unfortunate but very sad ranking.
