Law enforcement officers have completed the investigation into a man who attempted to drown a dog in the sea in Odesa. He faces up to 8 years in prison for animal cruelty.

Details of the case
A 38-year-old resident of Odesa allegedly took his stepfather's dog for a walk while the latter was away on business. Upon reaching the beach with the animal, he began to drown it in the sea.
Beachgoers noticed that the animal was in danger and called the police. Law enforcement officers took the dog to a veterinary clinic. The doctors diagnosed the four-legged friend with pulmonary edema.
What punishment awaits
The suspect has been charged under Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (cruelty to animals belonging to vertebrates, if such actions caused bodily harm, committed actively). He faces up to 8 years in prison.
