All Major Roads in Odesa Region Now Passable Following Severe Cold and Wind.
Odesa Region Roads Cleared After Winter Storm
According to Novyny.live: As of the morning of January 31, all major roads in the Odesa region are open to traffic. Municipal services continue to work to prevent ice formation, a critical task given the ongoing low temperatures and strong winds. This region is a vital transport and economic hub on the Black Sea, making road access a priority.
In the south of the region, air temperatures range from -2°C to -7°C, while in the central and northern districts, they drop further to between -5°C and -11°C. These conditions necessitate constant vigilance on road conditions, as even brief freezing periods can quickly create hazardous patches.
Road Safety Measures in Force
To ensure traffic safety on the oblast's highways, the following resources have been deployed:
- 112 units of specialized equipment
- 147 road maintenance workers
Within the city of Odesa itself, 257 workers are on duty, supported by 77 pieces of specialized machinery. This deployment allows for a rapid response to changing weather and helps maintain roads in a safe, drivable state.
A north wind is blowing across the region at speeds of around 10 m/s, with gusts reaching up to 13 m/s. While such conditions can complicate the situation on the roads, the coordinated efforts of municipal services have kept the main highways clear and operational.
Maintaining road passability in the Odesa region is essential for public safety, particularly during harsh winter freezes. The synchronized work of utility crews and their specialized equipment is crucial for preventing accidents. These concerted efforts under severe weather conditions are key to sustaining the normal operation of the region's transport infrastructure.
