Abkhazia Occupied by Russia Left Without Electricity.

In a locality in Abkhazia, which was occupied by Russia, there are problems with electricity due to a lack of water at the local hydroelectric power station. According to the new schedule, the electricity will be turned on twice a day for 1 hour and 24 minutes.

Earlier, it was reported that the hydroelectric power station stopped working due to a lack of water. Electricity supply was uninterrupted only at night since December 9.

The electricity crisis in Abkhazia began in November. To cover the electricity deficit, they used Russian supplies, which were paid for by December 10. Part of Abkhazia, particularly Sukhum, receives electricity from the Russian Federation.

The occupying administration warns that the situation may worsen if money is not found to pay for electricity from Russia.

Russia occupied Abkhazia in the early 1990s and continues to control this part of Georgia.

Seven countries called on Russia to withdraw its recognition of the 'independence' of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and to withdraw its troops from these regions. This statement was made by members of the UN Security Council on the anniversary of Russia's aggressive actions in 2008.
