Two million for the shelter: LEROY MERLIN equips a safe hiding place in Fastiv Hospital.
Community project by LEROY MERLIN UKRAINE and the Solidarity Foundation
According to Espreso.tv: More than two million Hryvnias have been invested by the DIY chain LEROY MERLIN UKRAINE and the charity foundation Solidarity in the fundamental modernization of a shelter in the hospital of Fastiv city. The aim of this initiative is to protect patients during the war. The partners have already invested more than six million euros in the reconstruction of the country and have implemented over 120 social initiatives in total.
In 2022, LEROY MERLIN UKRAINE established the Solidarity Foundation to promote the reconstruction of infrastructure and social projects in Ukraine. Among the major projects the partners have already realized are:
- the renovation of the children's department of the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv;
- the restoration of the surgical department of hospital No. 8 in Kyiv.
We met the mayor of Fastiv. He said that our help is needed. We came, agreed, and implemented it. It's all quite simple. Our mission is to be useful to people in the construction field and to help continuously.

Natalija Silinska emphasized the importance of safety: 'Safety is the top priority. And the value of high-quality, good, and properly selected materials is the guarantor of safety - not only for the doctors in this project but also for the patients.' Olga Poltorak, a representative of the hospital, added: 'After the comprehensive invasion of the enemy, we urgently needed such a space to protect patients and hospital staff.'
Axel Bernal also stressed how important it is to continue support: 'Each time a need arises, we will respond and be there. We have been supporting the country since the beginning of the war and will continue to do so throughout the entire state territory.' The initiative of LEROY MERLIN UKRAINE and the Solidarity Foundation thereby demonstrates how companies actively address social issues and support medical facilities under wartime conditions.
Social initiatives to support medical facilities
This project is part of a broader strategy by LEROY MERLIN UKRAINE and the Solidarity Foundation aimed at improving medical care in Ukraine during the war. Such projects are not only important for physical safety but also for the moral support of medical personnel and patients - an aspect that is crucial in an armed conflict. The implementation of these social initiatives shows the willingness of business to actively participate in the reconstruction of the country and to support its citizens in difficult times.
