Oleg Verniaiev accused the leadership of the Sports Gymnastics Federation of corruption
Oleg Verniaiev accused the leadership of the Sports Gymnastics Federation of corruption: 'Constant obstacles, stones thrown in the way, help blocked, initiatives slowed down'.He wrote this on social media.
The gymnast emphasized that he could no longer remain silent: 'I have been in the Ukrainian national team since 2010 and I do not remember a more corrupt and terrible vice president of the Federation than now. Constant obstacles, stones thrown in the way, help blocked, initiatives slowed down'.
The Ukrainian championship cost 6.6 million to support about 50 athletes, without allowing the Olympians to participate, allegedly this is normal. But when the media start asking where the money has gone, suddenly I am guilty, as if I bought the media'.
Verniaiev also points out that all issues in the Federation are only resolved when he 'directly addresses the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine'.
As an Olympic champion, world champion, and seven-time European champion, I almost have to beg on my knees for permission to travel to competitions with my coach, from the vice president of the Federation. I can only travel with my personal coach.
I still do not understand how to fight against this and how to stop this chaos. Because if everything remains the same, gymnastics will simply become a health sport and no longer a sport that brings Olympic medals to Ukraine' - Verniaiev said.
He added that due to 'personal animosity towards his coach' he was not granted a scholarship for the medal he won at the European Championship.
It is worth mentioning that the Ukrainian gymnast Illya Kovtun won an Olympic medal in Paris.
