Odesa Portside Plant halted grain transshipment due to destruction from Russian strike.
The Ukrainian enterprise – Odesa Portside Plant – has temporarily halted grain transshipment, its main source of income. Fortunately, it was not from anywhere else but due to a strike from Russia, which caused significant damage to the plant's territory. This information was conveyed by the responsible representative of the enterprise, Yuriy Kovalskyi.
The acting head of OPZ Yuriy Kovalskyi confirmed this information for journalists from the NV Business publication.
During the attack by Russian troops, which targeted port structures in the Odesa region, the Odesa Portside Plant also suffered. Likely, due to this, there was significant damage to complex premises and a halt to cargo transshipment.
'It was particularly painful for us, as the strike occurred almost at the moment of completing the tender for selecting the operator for the next year', emphasized Yuriy Kovalskyi.
The OPZ representative also reported that the enterprise has long been on the list of objects slated for privatization and is ready for this process, awaiting the necessary permission.
Regarding ammonia production and grain transshipment
Due to the plant's debts, ammonia production has now been halted, making grain transshipment the only source of income. Throughout 2024-2025, OPZ exceeded about 638 thousand tons of grains, including 625 thousand tons of corn and 12.7 thousand tons of soybeans.
Recall that recently we shared information about the largest metallurgical in Ukraine and about the construction of in Lviv.
The Odesa Portside Plant has faced problems due to the Russian strike, which led to significant destruction and the halting of grain transshipment. Now the plant will have to seek new solutions to ensure its income, as grain transshipment has become its main source of profit. Hope rests on the privatization of the enterprise and obtaining the necessary permits for development.
