According to ТСН: The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, plans to bring to the EU summit over 1.6 million questionnaires from the anti-Ukrainian 'referendum', in which Hungarians allegedly expressed opposition to supporting Ukraine.

He announced this on his Facebook page.

'1.6 million consultation questionnaires. So many people expressed their opinion on the plans to raise war taxes. I will take this with me next week to Brussels, where I will express the opinion of the silent majority. I hope the army will not charge any extra fees for exceeding the baggage weight,' he said.

Orban noted that he would present the survey results in Brussels to voice the position of the majority of citizens.

Earlier, the Hungarian government initiated 'national consultations' on raising taxes. Orban was accused of this move being a requirement of the EU for financing Ukraine and the war. Citizens were sent letters clarifying that this 'referendum' is linked to discussions in the EU about ways to financially support Ukraine.

Orban had also previously labeled the EU plan to seize frozen Russian assets as 'a declaration of war.'

Thus, Hungary's position in the context of the war in Ukraine remains cautious, and Orban seeks to demonstrate the opinion of the Hungarian population. It is important to see how this approach will affect the relations between Ukraine and the EU, especially in the context of increased attention to financial support for vulnerable areas.
