The USA considers a forceful option for Greenland: what Trump’s representative said.
According to ТСН: Discussions about the status of Greenland have resumed in Washington. Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff for President Donald Trump, expressed the opinion that this region should become part of the United States, even leaving open the possibility for military takeover.
US attitude towards Greenland
The United States should be a nation that includes Greenland as part of our common security apparatus. This has been the official position of the US government since the beginning of this administration: Greenland must be part of the United States. The President has been very clear about this, he stated in an interview with CNN.
Possibility of military action
Miller avoided answering questions about potential troop deployment, but noted that no one would wage military war against the United States over the future of Greenland.
Denmark's position
Miller also expressed doubts about Denmark's claims to Greenland. The main question is: on what basis does Denmark assert control over Greenland? On what basis does it present its territorial claims? On what grounds does Denmark consider Greenland its colony? he emphasized.
Donald Trump's claims
It should be noted that recently President Donald Trump somewhat 'forgot' about his ambitions regarding Greenland. However, last year, at the end of 2024 – early 2025, he 'set Europe, NATO, and especially Denmark on edge' with his statements about claims to Greenland. Trump pointed out that ownership and control over Greenland are an absolute necessity for the United States. He even mentioned that they do not rule out a forceful option for the annexation of Greenland to the USA.
The discussion regarding the status of Greenland remains a pressing issue in international politics. This is driven not only by the strategic and economic significance of the island but also by geopolitical events taking place on the world stage. Observers note that such statements could significantly impact relations between the US and Denmark, and may also provoke new discussions about Greenland's status in a global context.
