Pope Francis, who is undergoing treatment at a clinic, suffered two attacks of acute respiratory failure due to significant mucus accumulation. This was reported by Vatican News.

According to the Vatican press service, Pope Francis underwent two bronchoscopy procedures to clear him of abundant secretions. In the afternoon, he was placed back on non-invasive mechanical lung ventilation.

The Pope remained conscious during these events, but no further prognosis has been provided.

Earlier, it was reported that the health condition of the Pope was stable. He urged believers to pray for peace in the world just as they pray for him.

In January, the Pope fell ill with bronchitis, and in February he was hospitalized with suspicion of pneumonia. He is now 88 years old.

The pontiff himself expressed confidence that this Time he would not withstand the illness.
