Parliamentarians from 30 countries call on the world not to recognize the territories occupied by Russia.
According to FREEДOM: 30 countries around the world have expressed their support for Ukraine through the global network of parliamentarians United for Ukraine. The statement noted that the main obstacles to peace are Vladimir Putin and his imperialistic ambitions. It emphasized that any agreement without the participation of Ukraine and European allies cannot ensure the country's security. The deputies called for resolutions that would not recognize any occupied territory and support Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO.
'We emphasize that any ceasefire agreement or peace agreement made without the participation of Ukraine and European allies at the negotiating table cannot guarantee the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine, the UN Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and generally international law and its principles, will not contain effective and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine, undermining Ukraine's aspirations to become a member of the transatlantic family, meaning it will not bring peace, but rather support Russia,' the statement of the global parliamentary network United for Ukraine says.
The deputies called on the world's parliaments to recognize only Ukrainian sovereignty and support Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO as important guarantees of peace in the region.
