The Pentagon believes that Ukraine will have enough soldiers for war for a maximum of another year – NYT.
According to The New York Times, the US sees the shortage of military personnel as Ukraine's main problem. According to American officials, Ukraine will have enough soldiers for another 6-12 months. However, Ukraine has lost its advantage in artillery strikes and faces a shortage of soldiers.
According to the Pentagon, the current contingent in Ukraine will be enough for combat operations for 6-12 months. However, after this, there will be a serious shortage of military personnel. Some new brigades were directed to support the offensive in the Kursk region, rather than to strengthen defenses in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Ukraine has lost about 57,000 soldiers, which is a significant number for a country with a smaller population. Russia also suffers heavy losses, and some front-line areas have become a real slaughter for Russian soldiers. Moscow is involving North Korean military personnel to compensate for the lack of its own forces.
According to American officials, if US support continues until next summer, Ukraine could exploit Russia's weaknesses, including their shortage of soldiers and tanks.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also mentioned the possibility of involving military personnel from other countries in the conflict in Ukraine. Deputy Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh reported that North Korea has sent 10,000 military personnel to Russia for training and participation in the war with Ukraine.
The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, stated that the United States will announce new military aid to Ukraine in the coming days.
