According to ТСН: At the EU summit, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk raised the issue of an important step in using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.

"We are in the midst of a very complicated process of agreeing on the terms of using Russian assets. No one questions this necessity, and it is indeed a very important step forward," he emphasized.

The event also discusses the concept of using frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with a so-called 'reparations loan.' Repayment of this loan will only begin once Russia starts paying reparations.

Consensus in the EU

Tusk stressed that there is an internal consensus in the EU regarding the need to assist Ukraine through Russian assets, and the only question for discussion is the implementation of this plan.

He also noted that Poland and other countries will work on a solution to ensure that Belgium, which is the loudest opponent of this plan, feels comfortable. Belgium's resistance is explained by the fact that most assets belong to companies in that country, and it is concerned about possible legal consequences.

Threat to Poland's Independence

Tusk added that Poland's independence could be at risk if Ukraine is forced to capitulate.

"Poland's independence will be at risk if, as a result of poor decisions by Europe, Ukraine is forced to capitulate," he stated.

The Prime Minister also announced a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which will take place in Warsaw.

It should be noted that earlier Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that in the absence of a reparations loan from frozen Russian assets, Ukraine will become vulnerable, and Vladimir Putin will likely refuse any diplomatic efforts to end the war.

These discussions at the EU summit indicate the growing role of Ukraine in international politics and the importance of support from Western partners. It will become clear what decision will be made regarding the use of frozen assets, and whether this can become an effective tool in restoring the country after the conflict.
