Daylight Saving Time Transition in 2025: What Ukrainians Need to Know.
Ukrainians have been informed when to set their clocks forward for daylight saving Time in 2025.
This is reported by 'Hvylya'.
Ukraine transitions to summer and winter time twice a year - this is established by a government decision made in May 1996. This practice is regulated by a special resolution of the Cabinet, which defines the procedure for calculating time in the country.
The upcoming time transition schedule:
Transition to daylight saving time: on the last Sunday of March, the clocks are set forward one hour at 3:00 AM
Transition to standard time: on the last Sunday of October, the clocks are set back one hour at 4:00 AM
Meanwhile, on August 21, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed Bill No. 4201, which regulates time calculation in Ukraine, initiated by Ruslan Stefanchuk. According to this bill, Ukraine is to live by standard time. This means that the clock transition in spring may be canceled.
However, the current procedure for clock transition remains in effect, as the bill to cancel this practice has not yet been signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. This means that Ukrainians will face another transition to daylight saving time in March.
The main purpose of such time transition is to optimize the use of daylight, which allows:
To use natural light more efficiently during the winter period
To reduce electricity costs for lighting
To decrease heating expenses during working hours.
