Prospects of the nuclear deal: secret contacts between Iran and Trump team.
Iran had contacts with the Trump team even before his return to the White House
An Iranian member of parliament revealed that Tehran maintained secret contacts with Donald Trump's team for two years. These contacts took place through the Iranian mission to the UN in New York. The meetings primarily focused on the nuclear issue, disregarding other problems of Iran.
'The decisions made today are based on contacts and intelligence gathered over the past few years'
According to this information, all details of the meetings were sent to the Supreme Leader and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.
The second round of official negotiations took place in Rome and was successful. After that, expert groups will meet in Oman to develop the technical details of the future agreement. The process may lead to a new deal similar to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action from 2015.
However, the main question remains whether Iran will be allowed to continue low-level uranium enrichment. The Iranian side expressed readiness to send nuclear material to a third country, which may facilitate the lifting of American sanctions.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for April 26, and it is possible that the parties will reach fundamental agreements.
