Failure in the Bundestag during Zelensky's visit: Germany denies cyberattack.
According to ТСН: A temporary problem in the computer network of the German parliament, which arose during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Berlin, is not the result of any hostile interference.
What happened in Berlin
On Monday, during talks between Zelensky and Bundestag President Julia Klöckner, the parliament's network suddenly stopped working. Deputies and staff lost access to the internet, the internal network, email, and file servers.
This coincidence sparked a flurry of rumors in the media and social networks about a possible cyberattack from Russia.
Official reason
However, technical specialists of the parliament and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) denied the version of a cyberattack.
“The reason was a situation of overload between two data centers of the Bundestag administration. This is a technical problem, so a cyberattack can currently be ruled out.”
Disrupted talks with the USA
Network problems affected not only deputies. According to media reports, due to communication glitches, a video conference was disrupted between EU foreign ministers, who were in Brussels, and American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who were also in Berlin.
The EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, confirmed that there was a mistake, noting that the equipment “was not functioning properly.”
Interestingly, another video meeting – with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha – went off without a hitch.
Zelensky also noted that a meeting of the negotiating group in the USA is possible in the near future. He believes that now the American side will contact the Russian side more actively.
These events during Zelensky's visit demonstrate how important communication stability is in international negotiations. Despite network issues, the results of the meetings can have implications for the future development of relations between Ukraine, the EU, and the USA in the context of international politics. Continuous dialogue between states remains key in modern conditions, and its role in successful diplomacy should not be underestimated.
