Meeting of Trump and Zelensky: what the leaders agreed upon after negotiations.
According to ТСН: During the sixth meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the USA, which took place at Trump's private residence in Mar-a-Lago, the leaders met for a working lunch. Before the meeting, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wished Zelensky success on social media. Trump treated the Ukrainian delegation to chicken broth, steaks, French fries, and chocolate cake.
“Would you like to eat, or would you consider it a bribe, so you couldn't write honestly or would write a bad story?”
President Trump "joked," noting that lunch for journalists might improve news about the negotiations, although he remarked that in reality, the news could only get worse. Analyzing the menu during important negotiations usually indicates their low effectiveness. A joint press conference by Trump and Zelensky confirmed that the Trump administration tends to adhere more to Russia's approaches regarding conflict resolution.
Conversations with Putin: there will be no ceasefire
Before the meeting with Zelensky, Trump communicated with Putin. The latter, in military uniform, indicated that Russia "has almost lost interest in gaining control over all of Donbas as part of a peace agreement."
“Russia has almost lost interest in gaining control over all of Donbas as part of a peace agreement.”
Putin also emphasized that Russia aims to achieve all its goals through military means. Sergey Lavrov, even before the meeting with Trump, noted that "Russians will stand against any coalition of European countries willing to send their troops to Ukraine after the establishment of a ceasefire."
Trump repeatedly emphasized that he understands Putin's position regarding the ceasefire, pointing to the risks that may arise from the resumption of hostilities.
Trump's 'Peace' Plan: Russia ready to sell energy from Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant
Furthermore, Trump noted that negotiations regarding the peace plan between the USA and Russia are not easy. He stated that it is a complex process, which was also confirmed by Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing the importance of aligning American security guarantees.
“A 20-point plan is agreed upon at 90%, and the US security guarantees are at 100%.”
It is worth noting that Trump also discussed the issue of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, expressing the opinion that it could start operating almost immediately.
“For Ukraine to succeed, including the idea of energy supplies in Ukraine at very low prices.”
Trump added that he is ready to come to Ukraine and speak in the Verkhovna Rada if it would contribute to signing an agreement. However, his administration may have other goals, as Trump considers direct contact between Zelensky and Putin a diplomatic victory.
According to information, the negotiations of the delegations will continue in January, and Trump noted:
“If nothing happens, then they (Ukraine and Russia – Ed.) will continue to fight and die.”This again emphasizes the seriousness of the situation and the lack of real progress in the peace settlement.
