Putin and Trump established working groups on Ukraine: what is known about the format

According to ТСН: Vladimir Putin expressed support for US President Donald Trump's proposal to continue working on resolving the war in Ukraine through the establishment of special working groups.

This information was announced by Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov after a phone conversation between Putin and Trump.

Ushakov noted that the initiative to create working groups belongs to Trump, and the Russian president agreed to this proposal. The further work on the issue of conflict resolution in Ukraine within separate negotiation mechanisms is being discussed.

Details of the negotiations

Ushakov clarified that the parameters and format of the work of these groups are planned to be announced at the beginning of January.

The phone conversation between Putin and Trump took place at the initiative of the American leader and lasted for 1 hour and 15 minutes. This contact occurred the day before Trump's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Miami. The parties also agreed to continue the conversation after Trump’s negotiations with the Ukrainian leader.

Previously, Ushakov noted that during the conversation, Putin and Trump had similar views on a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine, believing that it could only prolong the conflict.

Thus, Trump's initiative to create working groups opens new opportunities for negotiations on conflict resolution in Ukraine. The continued dialogue between the leaders indicates an attempt to reduce tension and find ways to peacefully resolve the situation. Both sides have hopes for constructive results from the upcoming meetings.
