North Korea has launched cruise missiles in the East Sea.
North Korea tests missiles
South Korean military reported that North Korea has tested several cruise missiles. The launches took place on Thursday, May 22, in the East Sea. According to Yonhap, this occurred near Sondok in South Hamgyong Province.
The forecast for the launches was conducted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea. A group of South Korean and American intelligence officers is currently conducting a detailed analysis of the situation.
The South Korean military observed the preparations and monitored the launches by receiving information from American partners.
In addition, the DPRK recently tested a new weapon system on the destroyer «Chwe Ren». This system includes powerful missiles of various types, including supersonic and strategic cruise missiles as well as tactical ballistic missiles.
It is important to emphasize that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has supported his country's involvement in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, claiming that it was a necessary measure to protect the «fraternal nation».
North Korea likely received assistance from Russia in building new missiles. North Korean state media reported that a new missile was secretly launched by a MiG-29 jet during air defense exercises.
