Yellow Alert for February 7: Icing and Dense Fog Forecast

According to Novyny.live: A yellow-level weather warning has been issued for all of Ukraine on February 7, as forecasters predict a deterioration in conditions. The primary hazards are expected to be widespread ice accumulation, known as glaze ice or freezing rain, and areas of dense fog. This is the first of four levels in Ukraine's national hazard warning system.

Temperature Forecast and Safety Advice

Nighttime temperatures in northern Ukraine will range from -3 to -8 °C, with daytime highs of -1 to -6 °C. Southern regions will see milder nights from -2 to +3 °C, with daytime temperatures reaching +1 to +6 °C. In the Transcarpathian region, daytime highs are forecast to be the warmest, from +3 to +8 °C.

Visibility is expected to drop significantly due to thick fog, reducing it to 300-500 meters, which will create hazardous conditions for drivers and pedestrians.

Meteorologist Natalka Didenko noted that while severe frost is not expected, the combination of ice and fog will negatively impact travel and road safety.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution on roads and to monitor weather updates closely. A yellow alert indicates that weather conditions pose a potential threat to life, health, and transportation infrastructure. During icy and foggy conditions, adhering to traffic rules and remaining vigilant is crucial to avoid accidents. Staying informed about the forecast is a key part of preparing for potential travel disruptions.
