Devastating Strike on Kyiv

According to UATV: On July 2, 2023, Russian forces launched a large-scale assault on Kyiv, killing 18 people and injuring 85 others, among them two children. More than 30 locations across the capital were damaged or destroyed. The attack lasted roughly 12 hours, with the first explosion occurring around 3:15 a.m. According to officials, six individuals remain unaccounted for.

The assault caused extensive destruction, including the complete loss of over 20 residential buildings. Beyond the fatalities, three injured children are currently hospitalized in Kyiv. The attack also damaged nine ambulances, leaving six medical workers with injuries.

Official Response and Fallout

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that July 3 would be observed as a Day of Mourning in the city.

“Tomorrow, July 3, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv,” he stated, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Commenting on the aftermath, Pavlo Petrov noted:
“The scale of destruction is significant.”

Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities continue working to address the consequences of this tragedy. The situation remains critical, with local residents still grappling with the impact of this horrific attack.

This assault ranks among the most severe in recent months, highlighting not only the military tensions but also the humanitarian toll of the conflict. The declaration of a Day of Mourning reflects the deep grief and shock that have enveloped the city and its people.
