Contractor Under Investigation for Misuse of Funds

According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's National Police have opened a criminal investigation into a private company that received an advance payment for constructing an anti-drone protection system but failed to carry out the work. The contract was signed in November 2024 between a state-owned energy enterprise and the private firm. The advance payment transferred to the contractor amounted to nearly 68 million hryvnia.

Under the terms of the agreement, the client was supposed to disburse about 80% of the total project cost as an advance, provided the contractor furnished a bank guarantee. However, the investigation revealed that the company's director allegedly intended to misappropriate the funds even before the contract was signed. These suspicions of misconduct led to the initiation of criminal proceedings.

Current Status of the Investigation

Authorities are now reviewing all circumstances of the deal to identify potential abuses by the contractor's management. The probe remains ongoing as law enforcement works to establish the full details of the agreement.

This case highlights the critical need for oversight in state contracts, especially those involving national security.
