A Russian conscript who was captured in the Kursk region spoke about the events during the AFU's offensive. 19-year-old Yaroslav said that his comrades abandoned him alone at the stronghold.

After finishing school, Yaroslav did not go to study anywhere and was drafted for conscript service. He ended up in a motorized rifle regiment and underwent training, during which they were mainly taught to march. At one point, they were taken to shooting practice, during which Yaroslav managed to make two shots. After that, he was sent to serve in the Kursk region, where he was engaged in digging trenches and dugouts. But in early August, everything changed.

“In the morning, our stronghold was hit, we woke up and put on armor. In the evening, the senior lieutenant gave the command to fight. We, 21 conscripts, spread out and took up positions at a certain distance from each other and started waiting. Each of us had three magazines of ammo,” said Yaroslav.

Yaroslav admits that he did not really understand what the command “to fight” meant. He spent several hours at the position, but there was no combat activity. Then he decided to go to his comrade, who was standing nearby, to ask if he knew anything. But his comrade was not there. Yaroslav walked around the position but found no one. As a result, he was left alone. The conscripts did not have radios, so Yaroslav used his phone, started calling and texting his comrades, but no one responded. The captured Russian was found by Ukrainian soldiers when they arrived at the position in the evening.

AFU progress in the Kursk region

Over the past day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to advance in the Kursk region by a distance of 1 to 3 kilometers.

It is also worth noting that a military commandant's office was created in the Ukrainian-controlled territory of the Kursk region. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the AFU, Oleksandr Syrsky. According to him, the AFU controls 82 settlements, advanced by 35 kilometers, and cover over a thousand square kilometers of Russian territory.
