Poland gave Trump advice before meeting with Putin.
The Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski expressed his criticism regarding the idea of the new US President Donald Trump meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, stating this during the Ukrainian breakfast in Davos. According to Sikorski, Putin must earn such a meeting with Trump, as without this, the US president may develop incorrect perceptions of Putin's significance.
'But there is one piece of advice I would like to give the administration (Trump's, - ed.), based on the experience of a country that warned the rest of the world about Putin. It is this: this is not the Putin that Trump remembers from his first term. I have some doubts about the necessity of a meeting with Putin upfront,' he stated.
Sikorski also reminded that the US president is the leader of the free world, while Putin is a rogue and a war criminal accused of abducting Ukrainian children. He also advised Putin to earn the right to meet with Trump, as an earlier meeting could elevate his significance and create in him a false perception.
Let us remind you, Ukraine responded to Trump's appeal to Putin, considering it 'strong.'
