Poland calls hundreds of thousands to military qualification — media explains the purpose.
The purpose of the campaign is to determine the physical and mental fitness of citizens for military service. After a medical examination and an interview with military representatives, the data will be entered into the military register.
Starting from 2026, the Ministry of Defense of Poland plans to conduct a large-scale military qualification campaign. 235 thousand citizens will receive summons to undergo military medical commissions. This was reported by the publication Wyborcza.
Poland invites for military qualification
For the first time, the list includes not only men of conscription age, but also women and citizens over 50 years old.
After passing the military qualification, each of those who received a summons will receive the rank of private. However, it is worth noting that military tickets will only be issued to volunteers who decide to join the army. Other citizens will be classified as part of the passive reserve.
Summons will be received by men aged 19 years, men aged 20-24 who have not undergone military medical commissions, as well as individuals with temporary restrictions on fitness (categories B6-B24), whose validity expires at the end of 2026. Summons will also be sent to women who are studying or have education in fields important for defense capability.
Clarifications and answers from representatives
Earlier, the Ambassador of Ukraine in Poland, Vasily Bodnar, explained whether summons are sent to Ukrainians in Poland. Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, Pawel Zalewski, stated that Poland wants to be a member of the Coalition of Volunteers, and also answered questions regarding the dispatch of Polish troops to Ukraine.
Poland plans to conduct a large-scale military qualification campaign that will cover not only men but also women and senior citizens. After passing a medical examination and interviews with military representatives, citizens will be classified into military reserves or will have the opportunity to voluntarily join the army, receiving the rank of private. The Ukrainian side received certain clarifications from Polish representatives regarding the involvement of citizens in military service.
