Pope Francis has died.
Pope Francis died at 7:35 PM from bilateral pneumonia. He was 88 years old.
Cardinal Kevin Farrell expressed gratitude to Francis for his example in serving the Lord and the Church.
In January, the pope fell ill with bronchitis, which developed into a chronic form. It later turned out that he also had bilateral pneumonia.
Francis appeared in public several times after being discharged from the hospital in March. He missed the Easter celebrations but appeared before the faithful in St. Peter's Square, blessed them, and delivered an Easter message.
The Pope reduced his workload to follow doctors' recommendations for recovery and respiratory therapy to improve lung function.
During his appearance on the balcony after being discharged from the hospital, Francis was greeted with loud applause from three thousand believers.
