Countries Turn to Ukraine for Drone Defense Assistance
According to TSN.ua: During a press conference on Friday, March 13, President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that more than ten countries have approached Ukraine for help defending against Iranian attack drones amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine possesses the world’s most advanced expertise in countering these drones, specifically the models known as 'Shaheds.'

This specialized knowledge could prove invaluable for nations seeking to protect themselves from potential Iranian drone strikes. Zelensky also noted that 'this experience resides with our soldiers,' highlighting Ukraine’s substantial military capability in this domain. For context, Iranian drones have become a key weapon in regional conflicts, making counter-drone know-how a critical asset for many countries.
Deepening Ties with Middle Eastern Partners
In the wake of Iranian attacks on energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia has entered into talks with Ukrainian companies that manufacture interceptor drones. This development underscores growing global interest in Ukraine’s defense technology and capabilities, which could bolster military cooperation between nations. The requests for assistance from over a dozen countries underscore the rising importance of international security collaboration. Ukraine’s proven track record in this field may become decisive in countering emerging threats on a global scale. Strengthening partnerships with Middle Eastern states, particularly Saudi Arabia, could unlock new avenues for Ukraine’s defense industry, a vital factor in addressing today’s security challenges.
