Over 115,000 Claims Filed in Damage Registry: When Business Categories Will Open.
Applications to the International Damage Registry
According to Novyny.live: The International Register of Damages continues to receive a high volume of claims from Ukrainians. As of February 2026, more than 115,000 applications have been submitted. Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra noted that so far only individuals have filed claims, as just 15 out of 43 approved categories are currently open. She also announced that categories for businesses are expected to open by the end of February, which, in her view, will lead to a significant increase in the number of applications:
“So we anticipate a sharp rise in claims once the relevant categories for businesses and the state are opened.” - Iryna Mudra
Impact of Russian Attacks
Meanwhile, the consequences of ongoing Russian shelling in Ukraine are being discussed. For instance, on March 15, 2023, Russian occupiers attacked Dnipro, damaging three residential buildings. During the night of March 14, 2023, the Russian army struck the Kyiv region, killing five people. Additionally, an attack on a residential neighborhood in Zaporizhzhia was recorded, involving the use of guided aerial bombs.
Iryna Mudra emphasized the importance of each claim, stating:
“Every claim is not just a right, but also our evidence for international courts, and this is crucial for Ukraine.” - Iryna Mudra
This information highlights the growing need for international recognition of the losses suffered by Ukrainians due to military actions. Approximately six million Ukrainian refugees are currently abroad, underscoring the scale of the ongoing humanitarian crisis resulting from the aggression.
The rising number of applications to the International Register of Damages reflects not only the urgent need for Ukrainians to have their losses acknowledged but also efforts to gather evidence for future legal proceedings. The anticipated opening of new categories for businesses could significantly impact the country's economic situation, as enterprises have also sustained major losses from the conflict. This underscores the importance of engaging the international community in the recovery process and supporting Ukraine during this challenging period.
