Driving Pitfalls: 3 Complex Traffic Situations Where Even Experienced Drivers Make Mistakes

According to inkorr.com: The beginning of movement from the roadside, crossing intersections with priority signs, and the correct understanding of prohibitory signs often lead to disputes among drivers in Ukraine and can result in accidents. Unawareness or forgetting important details can turn into not just losses in time and money but also deteriorate health.

To help drivers refresh their knowledge, the author of the YouTube channel 'By! The Rules' has released a detailed examination of three common yet complex situations on the road.

Situation 1: Turning Against Starting from the Roadside

The first task presents a moment when two cars encounter on the road: a yellow car is making a turn, while a red car is starting to move from the roadside.

'Which driver's car should yield in the depicted situation?' - asks the video author.

According to the explanation, the priority is given to the driver who is already moving on the roadway, i.e., the yellow car. The driver of the red car, according to point 10.1 of the traffic rules, is obliged to yield to other participants before starting to move.

'Before starting movement, changing lanes, and any change in direction, the driver must ensure that it will be safe and will not create obstacles or danger to other road users.'

Situation 2: Motorcycle and the Sign 'Movement on Mopeds is Prohibited'

The second case shows a motorcyclist approaching an intersection where there is a sign 3.7 'Movement on Mopeds is Prohibited'. This is one of the most common mistakes when drivers confuse similar signs.

'It is very important not to confuse this sign with sign 3.6 'Movement of Motorcycles is Prohibited',' notes the author. The action of sign 3.7 applies exclusively to mopeds and motorized bicycles. Therefore, the motorcyclist has the right to ignore this sign and continue moving in the allowed direction.

Situation 3: Intersection with the Sign 'STOP'

The third situation addresses passing through an uncontrolled intersection. A white car approaches it from a secondary road, on which a sign 2.2 'Passing Without Stopping is Prohibited' is installed. Meanwhile, on the main road, confirmed by sign 2.3 'Main Road', a yellow car is moving.

In this case, the rules are clear: the driver of the white car is obliged to stop and yield to the yellow car that is moving on the main road. Only after this can they continue their journey.

Drivers often encounter complex situations on the road, so it is important to have a clear understanding of traffic rules to avoid conflicts and ensure safety for themselves and other road users. These situations highlight how crucial it is to be attentive and informed while driving, as even small details can play a decisive role in ensuring road safety.
