The EU calls on Trump to remember Ukraine before meeting with Putin: details of the address

The European Union's Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova, addressed the United States and Donald Trump ahead of his meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Alaska. According to her, Ukraine wants peace, but not at any cost.

Katarina Mathernova wrote this on Facebook.

Russian Attacks

'While the world hopes for a ceasefire looking at Alaska, the Russians continue as always. They are killing civilians', Mathernova noted.

She reminded of the Russian strike on Kherson, which killed seven people and injured nine others. The occupiers destroyed more than a hundred houses. When rescuers were removing the bodies of the dead, a Russian drone struck again, injuring three officers.

Negotiations in Alaska

Mathernova pointed out that all existential questions regarding Ukraine's future and the end of the war must be decided by Ukraine. According to her, security guarantees are necessary; otherwise, Putin will attack again.

She emphasized that the pride and resilience of Ukrainians are impressive, although at the beginning of the great war, it was claimed that the country could only hold out for a few days.

'Ukraine wants peace — but not at any cost. I sincerely hope that the United States and President Trump will remember this tomorrow. In the name of today’s Ukrainian victims — and all others killed during the Russian attacks'

It should be noted that only Trump, Putin, and their translators will be present at the negotiations in Alaska.

In Anchorage, a large rally in support of Ukraine took place before the meeting of the US leader and the Russian dictator on August 15.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to the European Union expressed hope that the US and President Trump would remember Ukraine's desire for peace before the meeting with Putin in Alaska. Mathernova reminded of the Russian attacks on Ukrainian citizens and expressed support for Ukrainians in their struggle for peace and independence.
