Earthquakes Hit Japan and Venezuela

According to Espreso.tv: A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Japan, leaving at least 10 people injured. This was followed by a tremor registering just below 5 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale in Aomori and Iwate prefectures. Crucially, no abnormalities have been reported at nuclear facilities, including the Higashidōri Nuclear Power Plant, the Onagawa Nuclear Complex, and the Rokkasho nuclear fuel reprocessing plant.

These events in Japan unfold against the backdrop of a series of powerful earthquakes in Venezuela. On June 24, two quakes with magnitudes of 7.1 and 7.5 claimed over 1,400 lives, with more than 46,000 people still unaccounted for. In response, Sanae Takaichi urged the public to remain vigilant.

Seismic Activity

The tremors in Japan underscore the persistent seismic activity of the region, which sits at the convergence of several tectonic plates. Despite the severity of the situation, the lack of issues at nuclear sites reflects a high level of preparedness and safety protocols in the sector.

Meanwhile, the tragic events in Venezuela highlight the critical importance of global disaster readiness and response, as natural calamities can lead to massive casualties and widespread destruction.
