Satellite Images Reveal Destroyed Berth After Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Russia’s Ust-Luga Port.
Fire at Ust-Luga Port
According to UATV: A blaze erupted at Russia’s Ust-Luga port on March 27, 2023, following a drone attack. New satellite imagery has confirmed that one oil-loading berth was completely burned down, while another sustained heavy damage. The fire swept through an area containing storage tanks and technical trestles, which were also harmed in the incident.
Drone Assaults
These strikes on Russian oil infrastructure mark the third consecutive day of such attacks. Notably, on March 25, 2023, Ukraine’s Security Service carried out a special operation targeting the port terminal infrastructure in the Leningrad region. This action resulted in significant material losses and disrupted port operations.
The situation at Ust-Luga highlights the mounting dangers to Russia’s oil infrastructure amid the escalating conflict. Drone attacks could severely impact the regional economy, as the port serves as a critical hub for shipping crude oil and petroleum products. Consequently, these developments may further strain relations between Ukraine and Russia, while potentially shifting the regional power dynamics.
