Fire Safety Expert Warns: Simultaneous Use of These Appliances Poses Fire Hazard.
Warning of Cable Fire Risks
According to TSN.ua: Fire safety expert Vyacheslav Dyakov has issued a warning about the risk of electrical cables catching fire when residents use multiple high-power appliances at the same time. This warning comes in the context of scheduled power outages, which were introduced in Kyiv on January 29. Dyakov stressed the need for caution when operating household devices under these conditions.
Dyakov pointed out that water heaters and ovens are among the most energy-intensive appliances. Their simultaneous use can lead to dangerous overloads of the electrical grid, especially when residents who are at home during the day turn them on together.
'Residents who are at home might turn these appliances on to do their household chores during hours when others, for example, are at work,' the expert explained.
He also noted that in some cases, the power supply can be unstable and cut out shortly after being restored:
'It happens that the power comes back, 10-15 minutes pass, and then it goes out again.'
Therefore, it is crucial to manage the use of high-energy devices to prevent hazardous situations. This is particularly important for a global audience to understand the strain on infrastructure during conflict, where energy systems are operating under severe stress.
Safety Recommendations
Given the current conditions in Ukraine, where the power supply faces significant instability due to the ongoing energy crisis, it is vital to follow expert advice to reduce personal safety risks. To avoid accidents and help maintain stability in the national power system, residents should be especially mindful of their use of powerful electrical appliances, preventing network overloads.
