26 February 2023
According to UATV: On the 1,464th day of Russia's full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Air Force demonstrated a significant operational improvement by successfully repelling a mass missile attack. The interception of more than 30 Russian missiles highlights the increased effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense network. This success comes after months of adapting to relentless aerial assaults on critical infrastructure.
Statement by the President of Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed the critical need to maintain pressure on Russia, stating:
"The war must be ended — this is our position, Ukraine's position, and the position of all our partners." — Volodymyr Zelenskyy
He also emphasized that "certain aspects of the system, specifically the organization of defense against such mass strikes, have been successfully restructured." This indicates that the Ukrainian military has adapted to new challenges and enhanced its readiness to counter attacks.
Furthermore, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that an energy restoration strategy would be finalized by March 1. The President added that there is "increased readiness for the next trilateral format" meeting, planned for early March in Abu Dhabi. He also underscored that "all the positive experience of Ukrainian cities, of Ukrainian communities that are getting through this winter better than others — all this experience must be taken into account."
The situation in Ukraine remains difficult, but the growing efficacy of its air defense systems and active work to restore energy infrastructure demonstrate the country's adaptation to the challenges of war. The announced international meetings could help strengthen Ukraine's diplomatic position and secure further support from its partners.
