Price caps have lost their meaning and should be abolished - representative of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association.
Ukraine continues to face price restrictions in the energy sector
Ukraine still cannot get rid of the price restrictions in the energy sector that were established back in 2019. This was stated by Olha Savchenko, a representative of the legal firm 'Altelo' and chair of the legal committee of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association.
Savchenko explained that these restrictions were introduced as a temporary measure until a new pricing system for electricity was implemented. She believes that the war is not the only culprit for the rise in prices, and these restrictions were effective even in peacetime, without proper updates.
They started to rise precisely during the war when it became clear that the market would not survive under the price limitation that was in place
According to the expert, these restrictions hinder the development of renewable energy sources and make the Ukrainian market less attractive to investors.
These measures must be justified; they must firmly and with very necessary reasoning limit competition, restrict the market, and they must come to an end. We do not have this
Thus, the problem of price restrictions in the energy sector remains relevant in Ukraine, complicating the situation in the energy market and not contributing to the development of renewable energy sources in the country.
Ukraine continues to struggle with price restrictions on electricity, affecting the development of the market and renewable energy sources in the country. Experts believe that it is necessary to rapidly address this issue to attract investments and promote sustainable energy development in Ukraine.
