Chances of release for the drug trafficking suspect

According to The Sun: 19-year-old Bella Cully, who was arrested in Georgia with a drug load worth £200,000, could soon regain her freedom thanks to a deal negotiated by her lawyer.

Her arrest occurred during a flight from Thailand in May, and she faced up to 20 years in prison. Her legal team has now confirmed that the deal that could save Bella from serving a sentence is nearing completion: she claims she was forced into drug trafficking.

Bella is also pregnant - currently in her 22nd week, which has prompted sympathy from the judge during the hearing where her mother, grandfather, and aunt were present.

Court proceedings and hope for release

Judge Giorgi Gelashvili denied Bella's request for release on a bail of £13,752 but noted that he would review the case again once an agreement with the prosecution was reached.

Bella's lawyer Malkhaz Salakaia emphasized:

“The negotiations are nearing completion. The higher the fine, the less time she will serve, including the possibility of complete release.”

Bella's parents are already facing the challenge of raising a significant amount of money to secure her release.

Family concerns and continuation of the legal process

Bella's mother, Mrs. Kennedy, tearfully stated:

“That is a large sum for us.”

Judge Gelashvili reassured the family:

“We are, of course, concerned about Ms. Bella's and her child's health. Clearly, the child must grow without hindrance.”

Bella claims that she became a victim of violence and torture by a Thai gang that forced her to travel to Georgia.

During the hearings, Bella was supported by her parents, who are trying to help her in this difficult situation. A return to court is planned soon.

In the meantime, Bella is trying to return to the UK after all her experiences.

This case has attracted wide attention as it not only concerns Bella's personal tragedy but also raises general questions about drug trafficking and human rights. Currently, there is active discussion in society regarding potential legislative changes that would provide protection to victims of violence in similar situations.
