Albanian Prime Minister: Putin's Aggression Accelerated the EU's Expansion Process.
Albanian President Edi Rama stated that Vladimir Putin made the expansion of the European Union a reality. He said this during negotiations about Albania's membership in the EU. According to Rama, Albania has aspired to the EU since the fall of the dictatorial regime, regardless of the mood of officials in Brussels and other capitals.
The President added that the opinion of EU members regarding expansion has changed due to Russia's aggressive behavior. He also thanked Putin for this and explained that the Western Balkans are important for a stronger European Union, and the European Union needs the Western Balkans. Rama also emphasized the importance of Albania's accession to the EU and the understanding that this large window of opportunity should not be closed.
